1. Our words have weight
Words always carry weight, and we all have experiences when a kind word was said at a much-needed time and not-so-great words were said at just the wrong time. How we speak is a reflection of what our heart looks like, which can be read in Luke 6:45. How is your heart a representation of God's love based on the words you say?
"The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks."
2. Words can bring life
Words are so powerful. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that they can bring life (hope, encouragement, goodness, and peace) or death (fear, worry, doubt, and restlessness) to a situation. We have the opportunity to speak life over circumstances and people in our lives based on the truth of God's word. How can you speak truth and life over someone or a situation today?
3. The words we use about ourselves matter too
While it is very important to think of how our words impact others, we also must remember that the words we use when talking about ourselves matter too. The way we think about ourselves needs to also be a reflection of the truth. The truth is you were created with purpose, intention, and deep love by God. So when you think negative thoughts or realize the words you use when talking about yourself are negative, look to God's word to see the truth. Cause you're really awesome and important too:)
